4 Free Procurement Training Courses to Impress your Boss
July 04, 2023

If you’re anything like me, you always want to be learning something new. Even better if it’s related to your work, so you can learn the best practices, find out current trends, and impress your boss!

A lot of companies will support staff in studying, but you don’t need to wait for finance to approve your PO if the course is free!

I’ve found four free procurement training courses which are aimed at a range of levels from beginner to advanced.

There might be a course you’ve been thinking about taking for a while on the list, or a course you didn’t even know existed! Consider this your sign to finally get round to picking up that new skill you promised yourself (hey, it’s never too late to make that New Year’s Resolution happen!).

No matter how long you’ve been in the business or how much experience you have, there’s always room to learn something more, and these are a great option that won’t break the bank.

Free procurement courses from Udemy

The first site offering free procurement training courses is Udemy.

Udemy is one of the largest marketplaces for free and paid courses ranging from the basic hobby type of learning to in-depth education on niche subjects.

Udemy offers up to 33 free procurement courses for you to learn from, ranging from an introduction to the absolute basics to S/4 HANA MM sourcing and procurement.

You will be watching prepared videos and some courses require you to answer questions to show you understand the knowledge presented.

After the completion of the course, and dependent on the course itself, you will get a certification of completion as well as the ability to share on social media and more importantly update your LinkedIn profile.

The second option for the procurement professional to keep educating themselves is Alison.

Alison is one of the world’s largest free learning platforms with a goal for positive social change, creating opportunity, prosperity, and equality for everyone.

Alison offers up to 8 online procurement courses with their own certificates, with topics including the fundamentals of using six sigma in supply chain, modern project management, and understanding supply chain ecosystems.

Now, Coursera is not free if you want a certificate and access to graded assignments, but what it does allow you to do is audit the courses, giving you access to all course materials.

Coursera partners with over 200 leading universities and companies to provide learning material and opportunities including job-ready certificates and degree programs.

If you don’t care about a certificate or shareable social proof, then these courses are amazing for learning all about procurement from top organisations including the New York institute of finance, Google, Columbia university and Amazon web services.

These procurement training courses include Google’s project management with over 530k enrolments, Supply chain management from Rutgers with 210k enrolments and Global public procurement from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) with 2.4k enrolments.

Check out their 58 procurement training courses here.

Edx.org is similar to Coursera- it’s free to audit the courses available, where the paid option gives you a shareable certificate and grades assignments and exams.

Similarly, these courses are also from leading universities and organisations.

Their 31 procurement courses include an introduction to FinOPs, introduction to management information systems as well as supply chain design.

Wrapping up…

With so much free knowledge out there to take advantage of, there really is no excuse to not spend ten minutes a day brushing up on your skills or even learning something totally new.

However, if you are already way into your procurement journey and want to learn about the benefits of AP automation, digital invoice capture and more, stay on the Compleat site for a snoop at what we do best or get in touch with our team below.
